Hand Hygiene Practices Help Protect Children from Infection Transmission
3 October 2022 – To increase parents' awareness of the transmission of infection, B. Braun Indonesia held a General Webinar "Let's Wash Our Hands For a Healthy Life"
Most infections (18%) occurred in children under five years old, are acute respiratory infections, some of which came from the community environment, and some came from the hospital. To increase parents' awareness of the transmission of infection, B. Braun Indonesia held a General Webinar "Let's Wash Our Hands For a Healthy Life" on Saturday, 1 October 2022 for families in Indonesia.
Attended by families from various provinces in Indonesia, F. Sales Saputro, Product Manager of Infection Prevention from B. Braun Indonesia explained that the practice of hand hygiene can protect children from infection transmission because it is very easy to do; anywhere and anytime and proven medically effective.
"Today, public is familiar with the practice of washing hands in running water with soap. In certain conditions, when access to washing hands with water and soap is limited, we can still perform hand hygiene using an alcohol-based hand rub which effectively kills germs in a short time and is safe for repeated use," said Sales Saputro. He also emphasized three main things when carrying out hand hygiene practices for participants. They are the volume of hand rub liquid used, hand washing techniques according to World Health Organization standards, and the duration of hand washing, which is for 30 seconds.
Meanwhile, one of the parents from Lampung who attend explained that the socialization of hand hygiene practices provided a comprehensive understanding of hand hygiene programs. "This socialization is very right because it held during the transition season. And in fact, we are still struggling with the Covid-19 Pandemic too. As parents, we understand even more the importance of doing hand hygiene correctly and consistently," added Ivan, who dialed in with his son, Gani.
Infection Prevention and Control is an effort to ensure protection for everyone against the possibility of contracting an infection. Both when receiving health services in various health facilities and from the public. Collaboration with this association is expected to have a bigger and wider positive impact on health practitioners. As reflected in the B. Braun's commitment to the value of sharing expertise to participate as a partner for health practitioners in seeking the best and safest therapeutic solutions for patients and health practitioners.
