B. Braun Indonesia and Wastehub® Hold Mangrove Planting Action, Reinforcing Environmental Responsibility

B. Braun Indonesia, a leading medical technology company headquartered in Germany, has partnered with Wastehub® to organize a mangrove planting activity in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), Jakarta.

Jakarta, 23 November 2024 - In a concerted effort to support environmental conservation initiatives and mitigate the impacts of climate change. B. Braun Indonesia, a leading medical technology company headquartered in Germany, has partnered with Wastehub® to organize a mangrove planting activity in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), Jakarta. This initiative underscores the company's commitment to environmental responsibility and building a greener future.

As part of the B. Braun Charity Run 2024, B. Braun Indonesia has donated 100 million rupiah to support nature conservation initiatives. One tangible manifestation of this commitment is the planting of mangrove seedlings in Jakarta and Bali.

On Saturday, November 23, 2024, over 100 B. Braun Indonesia employees participated in the mangrove planting activity in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), Jakarta. In addition to Jakarta, more mangrove seedlings will be planted in Wana Segara Kertih, Kedonganan, Bali on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

" Today, we are planting the seeds of hope for a better tomorrow," said Rainer Ruppel, President Director of B. Braun Indonesia. "The planting of these mangrove seedlings is not only a symbol of our commitment to the environment but also a long-term investment for future generations."

B. Braun Indonesia and Wastehub® Synergy for the Environment

The collaboration between B. Braun Indonesia and Wastehub® is a strategic step towards raising awareness of the importance of coastal ecosystem protection and accelerating nature conservation efforts. As a platform focused on sustainable waste management, Wastehub® supports nature conservation efforts, including mangrove planting, which plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems.

Mangroves: Vital Coastal Guardians

Mangroves, as resilient coastal guardians, play a crucial role in absorbing carbon dioxide, preventing erosion, and providing habitats for a variety of marine life. The presence of mangroves is also essential in reducing the risk of natural disasters such as floods and tsunamis. By planting thousands of mangrove trees in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), B. Braun Indonesia and Wastehub® hope to contribute to the restoration of the coastal ecosystem, which is currently threatened by damage and land conversion.

Surya Sastriando, Founder of Wastehub, added, “Wastehub Alam Lestari, or commonly known as Wastehub®, is a foundation focused on the circular economy in urban, tourism, and island areas with an integrated systems approach involving multiple stakeholders since 2019. We are located in Jakarta and Bali. As a partner who receives donations and also conducts mangrove planting, we strongly support B. Braun's program. Today, we planted 200 mangrove seedlings in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), Jakarta, and another 500 seedlings will be planted in Wana Segara Kertih, Kedonganan, Bali on Sunday, December 8, 2024. In addition to planting mangroves, we also conduct waste cleanup activities in the planting area, because if garbage is trapped in mangroves, it will hinder growth. Of course, our great hope is that we can invite more people to participate.”

Increasing Environmental Awareness Among Employees

In addition to the planting activity, B. Braun Indonesia employees were also invited to discuss environmental issues, waste management, and the importance of sustainable lifestyles. This aims to increase employee awareness of the impact of daily activities on the environment.

Rainer Ruppel stated, "We are very proud to be able to contribute directly to environmental conservation through this activity. Mangrove planting is not only beneficial for coastal ecosystems but also serves as an education for our employees to be more environmentally conscious. B. Braun Indonesia is committed to continuing to support sustainable initiatives that have a positive impact on the environment."
