Supporting Patient Safety in Health Facilities, B. Braun Indonesia Holds Health Talk on Hand Hygiene Day
Did you know, in 2023 more than 1.4 million or at least 9% of hospitalized patients worldwide will have nosocomial infections? Nosocomial infections or Healthcare Associated Infections (“HAIs”) are cross-infections that occur in nurses or patients during treatment therapy at Health Service Facilities (“FASYANKES”). HAIs can also cause sufferers to experience sepsis or a collection of clinical symptoms due to the body's response to infection. For this reason, this year's Hand Hygiene Day commemoration raises the theme of the importance of sharing knowledge about hand hygiene for health workers or health workers and health service providers to optimize the quality of patient therapy and minimize the risk of HAIs.
B. Braun Indonesia also supports global efforts to combat sepsis by holding a Health Talk with the topic The Importance of Sharing Knowledge About Hand Hygiene on May 7 2024 at the Head Office of B. Braun Indonesia, Jakarta. The Health Talk, which was held in a hybrid manner, invited the Chair of the Indonesian Infection Prevention and Control Nurses Association (HIPPII), Dr. NS. Elis Puji Utami, S.Kep., MPH., FISQua and attended by more than 150 B. Braun colleagues from all over Indonesia. Through this activity, B. Braun Indonesia colleagues are expected to become hand hygiene ambassadors both in the work and family environment.
B. Braun Indonesia colleagues were also invited to practice the hand rub procedure correctly. This hand rub procedure test was carried out using a UV-Box which can detect the success of rubbing hands using an antiseptic liquid with an ultraviolet light display. Apart from that, B. Braun Indonesia also provides special discounts for its employees to support the preparation of antiseptic fluid at home.
Studies show that the availability of hand rub in patient beds can increase health workers' compliance in carrying out the 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene procedure to optimize patient safety. Through smart solutions and SoftaMan product innovation, B. Braun supports FASYANKES with an alcohol-based antiseptic for hand disinfection that is safe to apply at any time and is effective in killing viruses in just seconds. By providing effective hand rub, FASYANKES can optimize cost efficiency and service quality.
