Askina® Calgitrol® Ag

Askina® Calgitrol® Ag is a technologically advanced wound dressing that incorporates the barrier effectiveness of ionic silver with the absorbency capabilities of calcium alginate and polyurethane foam.

Askina® Calgitrol® patented matrix formulation combines calcium alginate and silver alginate with 10% of bounded water. In contact with exudate alginate matrix forms a soft gel allowing the liberation of silver ions and providing a moist wound environment conducive to natural healing.

Silver is readily available in ionic state over the entire dressing surface area with no need for wetting and activation.
Silver is continously released from the dressing: the concentration of silver ions in the wound is maintained during 7 days at the level of 60 ppm (concentration of silver ions needed in the wound for efficient antibacterial activity).
